Directed by Stephanie Chapman Garibaldi . Co-directed and hosted by Joe Tayag.
Review from Yelp about Sucker for Love #5: The event was well-organized and overall a fantastic production. Eight stories of love.. ranging all emotions.. but surprisingly, all with happy endings! If I'm in DC on Valentine's Day next year, without a doubt, I'll be back for this show. Great for couples, friends, and those flyin' solo.
Nina Brewton is a writer who speaks and a speaker who sings. She is the author of two books with the word 'Queen' in the title and is set to debut her first one-woman show this spring. And oh yeah, she believes in love.
Cara Foran is a corporate drone by day and an unmanned creative aerial vehicle by night. Cara has performed with Speakeasy DC, Story League, Better Said Than Done, and Fan-Freakin-Tastic. Her writing has been featured on ThoughtCatalog.com, ImposeMagazine.com, and in DC Style magazine, yet she remains somehow mysteriously single.
Chancellor Gaffney is an auditor by trade and a gym enthusiast in practice. He has a voracious appetite for the vernacular and is a lover of linguistics. He is a soft-spoken, hard-hitting omnivore with an inquiring mind.
Elizabeth Kominski is a mother, wife, musician, high school teacher, and sometimes, a storyteller. She is excited to do something other than tuning a guitar, grading papers, or cleaning up poop. She would like to thank her lovely family and all of the unsuccessful relationships that led her here.
Layla McCay is a Brit about town in Washington DC. When she's not teaching global health or curing the sick, you can find her running Perfect Liars Club, DC's storytelling night with a side of shrewd.
Pierce McManus is a DC-based storyteller. He’s had the pleasure of performing with SpeakeasyDC, StoryLeague, Better Said Than Done, and Perfect Liars Club. When he's not telling stories, Pierce is training for his next marathon or posting embarrassing family photos to his popular blog: Me With a Fish.
Shawn Westfall has been teaching improvisational comedy at the DC Improv for over 10 years, and performing it for much, much longer than that. By day he works in advertising, so he spends a lot of time making crap up. This is his first time on a SpeakeasyDC stage.
Zach WIlks is a storyteller, stand-up comedian, and sometime "motivational" speaker. He uses these skills daily as a devoted husband and attorney for the Defense Department. Zach has been married since 2000, but a Red Wings fan even longer.
Stephanie Garibaldi started directing SpeakeasyDC’s annual SFL show back in 2009, because she needed a distraction from not having a valentine. Now in year 6, the show will have its largest sold-out audience ever at the 9:30 Club, and Stephanie’s happily married. Mere coincidence or karmic justice? You decide.
