Story District returns to the Lincoln with another night of outstanding, hilarious, and poignant true stories. This cast of eight stories were deemed the best by a panel of judges and narrowed down from more than 150 stories that were told on the Story District stage over the course of a year (From November 2016 through October 2017). This much-anticipated event sold out every year, so be sure to get your tickets. "At its best, Story District is a spellbinding night of spoken word: Average people onstage telling true-life stories of love, high school foibles, childhood vacations or restaurant jobs, delivered without notes and without a net. Some provoke knowing laughter; others reduce the room to silence. Your average Story District show is very good, but theTop Shelf performance should be a knockout: A panel of judges have selected their favorite stories from a year's worth of shows and invited their authors back for a greatest-hits show. Tales of haunting, booze and courtship are all on the docket: Truly something for everyone." -- The Washington Post

For those of you new to Story District, every January we showcase the 8 best stories of the year at the Lincoln Theatre in Story District's Top Shelf - a much-anticpated, always sold out event. With so many great stories, this is no easy task. There are two steps to our process of choosing the top eight. We start with about 130 stories from twelve months of Story District shows from October 1 through September 30. Those are narrowed down to 16 nominees by our nominating committee of storytelling peers. The final 8 are chosen by a panel of "independent" judges. See below.
