Come on Down!
You’re the Next Contestant on Story Showdown!
Fan-favorite night inspired by The Price is Right, SpeakeasyDC Story Showdown, makes its return to Dance Place on June 27th and 28th (Washington, DC) . Save money when you buy in bulk with code 4FOR48 ($12 per ticket instead of $20).
SpeakeasyDC is fulfilling the dream many of us who grew up watching The Price is Right have had—being on Contestant’s Row in its fourth run of this totally original spoof on the classic CBS game show. There are three performances at Dance Place (in the Brookland neighborhood of NE, DC) that feature an interactive parody of the game show with a storytelling twist. Volunteers from the crowd are invited to “come on down” to the TPIR look-alike set. The evening includes six different games such as Cliffhanger, in which the contestant will be asked to guess the correct ending of a story just performed, and Pick a Number, where contestants must keep track of every number you mention in your story and guess the correct final total. The evening will be hosted by “Rob Parker” (Kevin Boggs, storyteller and actor) and announcer Rod Roddy, with help from Rob’s Randies. All in attendance are encouraged to drop their names in a hat to be chosen to participate and win an array of coveted prizes and shout out their guesses for every game.
“Story Showdown is easily our most fun event,” says SEDC Director Amy Saidman. “The interactive nature of the event allows our audience to get involved and let loose. And Dance Place build us the most amazing set!”
