We are thrilled to bring you the Best of Real to Reel where we turn real stories into reel stories in a one-week contest with our partners at DC Shorts. The Best of R2R will take place on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse. Three firsts! First time in Arlington, first time at the Drafthouse, and first time showcasing the best the stories and films -- together in one night -- from past contests.

For the uninitiated, Story District and DC Shorts teamed up in 2012, 2013, and 2014 to create a unique week-long contest (formerly Speakeasy Shorts) On opening night, storytellers take the stage to perform their true tales. Film teams -- hearing all the stories for the first time -- then have 5-days to write, edit, score, and produce a short film that's inspired by the story they randomly select from a hat on opening night. A week later, everyone comes back to see the films!  We are back up and running and Real to Reel #4 will take place on Friday November 3 (live story performances) and November 10 (film screenings) at the Miracle Theatre on Capitol Hill. Pitch a story! But before November, gear up for this year's contest by coming to the Best of Real to Reel on October 4 in Arlington! These storytellers plus filmmakers from Tragedy Plus time, Pirate Bears, and Meridian Hill Pictures will be there, too.
