Speakeasy Storycast #42 — Renata Lana: Jumping from Rooftops
Episode #42 of SpeakeasyDC’s podcast features a story by and conversation with Renata Lana. Her story is about taking up a surprising new hobby in the midst of her pending divorce.
A self-described oyster aficionado and recovering academic, Renata first showed up on SpeakeasyDC’s doorstep in January of 2011 to take a Storytelling 101 class. She was immediately hooked and soon after performed, took more classes, and now coordinates and hosts SpeakeasyDC’s Story Salon. The Story Salon is a place for aspiring storytellers to get together informally to work on finding new story material, developing a story idea, or practicing for a show. For the last two years, she’s also hosted the judges screening of SeDC’s Top Shelf nominees. Basically, we are finding any excuse possible to hang out at her fabulous CoHts house with her cuddly cat.
Renata has also been seen telling stories in the DC area at Better Said than Done and 8×8. Thanks to Renata, I have a new-found love of oysters and a hilarious memory of her son running downstairs naked, covered head to toe in blue paint (seriously… not a spot was untouched), proudly declaring that he was the Blue Monster (or the Blue Man or something). Lesson learned when your five year old is quiet for way too long. A chip off the block, since she claims that she will eat or do anything at least once.
